In 2010, THE GOLDEN MEAN (LIVE) made its world premiere at the Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver. The work was then presented as part of the programming for the Venice Biennale. The solo gloires du matin :)-(:, performed at dawn by Marie Chouinard, was also presented to a full house in the legendary Teatro la Fenice.
As part of the COMPAGNIE’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the book MARIE COMPAGNIE_MARIE_CHOUINARD_COMPANY, published by Les Éditions du passage, was launched at a press conference at Espace Marie Chouinard.
In July 2011, the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna presented HENRI MICHAUX : MOUVEMENTS, the COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD’s new group choreography that brings to stage the book Mouvements by the poet and painter Henri Michaux.
In 2011, Marie Chouinard was part of the BIG BANG collective exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts where she unveiled her installation Paradisi Gloria.
The same year, she founded the organization LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL, created to applaud the excellence of dance artists who perform on Montreal stages, as well as highlight the city’s vitality and influence as an international capital of dance. Marie Chouinard became its president in 2013.
The performance event La Nuit ensoleillée was held on the summer solstice in 2011 and 2012. During this nocturnal happening, from dusk to dawn, Marie Chouinard and the dancers who have marked the COMPAGNIE’s twenty-year history danced to live music by Louis Dufort, a long-time creative collaborator.
In 2012, the choreographer created and performed IN MUSEUM, a three-hour solo performance-installation, as part of the 30th International Contemporary Art Symposium of Baie-Saint-Paul. In 2013-2014, IN MUSEUM was presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Festival TransAmériques (FTA) in Montreal, the Nuits de Fourvière festival in Lyon, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest and the Tanec Praha Festival in Prague.
Marie Chouinard also presented her exhibition DESSINS at the Galerie Donald Browne in Montreal and the Toronto International Art Fair, then in Prague in 2014 at the Tanec Praha Festival.
In the summer of 2012 the COMPAGNIE’s first edition of the international repertoire workshop was held. Designed for professional dancers, this one-week course is offered every year, based on a different theme, in Espace Marie Chouinard.
GYMNOPEDIES was created in 2013 at the Centro Cultural de Belem in Lisbon. In this choreographic work, the dancers of COMPAGNIE play Satie’s Gymnopédies no. 1, 2 and 3 on the piano.
The works of Marie Chouinard album also include films, multimedia creations and performance-installations.
In 2013, Marie Chouinard wrote and stage-directed the film MARIE CHOUINARD : THE RITE OF SPRING. Directed by Mario Rouleau and produced by Espace Franco, filmed with seven cameras during a performance at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, the film offers the viewer a unique perspective on the choreographer’s work. Available on DVD, the film has been presented at various festivals and events, including the FTA and the International Festival of Films on Art (Montreal).
A two-part documentary entitled Marie Chouinard : un regard la femme, un regard sur son œuvre, directed by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, was produced by Espace Franco in collaboration with ARTV and TFO.
The premiere of CORPS CÉLESTES, an immersive 360° installation, was presented on June 4, 2013 in the dome of the Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal (SAT).
In 2014, Marie Chouinard directed the music video for Jamais, by singer-songwriter Serge Fiori. This collaboration was the first of its kind in the career of the director and choreographer.
During this time, Marie Chouinard received several awards and honours. In November 2010, she was awarded the Prix Denise-Pelletier (Prix du Québec) for her work and career in the field of performing arts. The same year, COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD received the Award of Merit presented by the Imperial Tobacco Foundation to "recognize sustained artistic excellence and innovative achievement by a Canadian arts organization."
In 2012, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec awarded Marie Chouinard the award for best choreography for THE GOLDEN MEAN (LIVE). The same year, the choreographer received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2014, she was awarded the Prix culturel Samuel de Champlain (France).
The name of Marie Chouinard became a dictionary entry in Le Petit Larousse illustré in 2010, and in Le Robert the following year.
